As a mother of 3 young children I decided it was time for me to do something for myself. After commencing the career course at Photo Image Campus, I soon discovered that this was where I belonged (behind the camera). Encouragement from the lecturer and fellow students have steered me in the direction that I now believe is my strength. The small and personalised student groups ensured that I received the attention that I wanted for my investment. There was no escaping the critiquing that I would normally have avoided but I now looked forward to, as I knew it was a step closer to my goal. After 6-12 months into the course I commenced paid work. I had to get my head around my new title (photographer). I once asked the lecturer whether he thought that I had what it took to make it. Response: “you are doing it” I have now completed the course and I am struggling to keep up with the work (I say this with a smile on my face). This career course has now set me up for life and the last twenty months have been very rewarding. I can only encourage others to take the step and make the commitment that I made. –Adrienne Gilligan December 2008.
