The Basic & Creative Digital Photography short course is designed
for people wanting to improve image quality and creativity when taking
images of travel, holidays, family & friends or just having fun.


Starting with the basics of photography and digital camera technique we
then take you through the practical uses of light, flash, composition,
camera angle and subject impact. The course also introduces you to
the fundementals of digital workflow thus helping you better understand
and complete a process of importing, organise, adjust images and then
export for email or printing.

Lesson 2 - Camera One


Simplifying the camera to it's basic components. Camera operation


and functions of Shutter Speed.


Lesson 3 - Camera Two



Functions of Aperture and it's effects on the image.


Lesson 4 - Camera Three


   Working with both Aperture and Shutter Speed and their



relationship to each other


Lesson 5 - Digital Photography


Step by step discussion of digital workflow from camera to print


Lesson 6 & 7  - Creative PRACTICAL Location ( double lesson )


Practical City location class   ( 4 hour weekend )


Camera Controls & Exposure metering, Panning + fast & slow shutter speed.



Lesson 8 -Natural Light , light direction, Flash


Importance of light in creative photography, types of light, light
quality and direction. Familiarization with electronic flash.
Lesson 9 - Composition and Creative Viewpoint  
 A view into subject placement & framing plus Creative Viewpoint and
adding impact to your images.
Lesson 10 - PRACTICAL Location
Night photography in the city
 A practical look at adding impact with creative composition and viewpoint.
Lesson 11 - Subject elements and Creativity
 Discussion of elements and their effect on image expression and mood.
Lesson 12 - Creative PRACTICAL Night Location Photography
Practical lesson on photographing people.
Lesson 13 - Review and critique of all images
Review of final assignment images after two months.
